The Never Failing Promise

my heart cried out, "i'm all alone,"
and my neighbors all agreed;
the skies were brass, as hard as stone,
i found no answer for my need.

my body wasted,
my heart was pained;
i longed for the peace i once had tasted
and sought for the grace i once had gained.

my heart cried out both night and day
"my God, my God, where are you please?"
my strength has left me along the way,
and brought me to my knees.

then, like mighty thunder, in the blue,
i heard the voice of God so grand,
"I have not forgotten you,
you are engraved on the palms of My hands."
