More mass hysteria?

Well, here we are on Monday morning; the sun is shining, the sky is pastel blue, the birds are chirping, and the local paper says hundreds showed up to protest the building of an oil refinery.

I would sure liked to have been a fly buzzing around, and check to see how many of those hundreds are complaining about the high cost of gasoline or diesel fuel.

Oh, that's right that don't really matter, just don't want it in my back yard.

Then again, I wonder how many of them are farmers, who are 1) getting top dollar for their corn, 2) are getting government subsidies for their crops, and perhaps 3) are receiving government funding for placing any of their land in CRP?

I really think the old adage: "Follow the money" may very well tell the story on why there have been no new refineries built in this country for thirty years or more.

Then again, I wonder how many of these people would protest the building of an "ethanol" or alternative fuel refinery in their back yard.
